1）简单句与简单句之间的转换。
①运用同义词或近义词（词组）改写。如：
It's very heavy．Can you help me？→It's very heavy．Can you give me a hand？
I called you last night．→I gave you a call ／ring last night．
②运用反义词或近义词的否定式改写。
Miss Gao teaches us English．→We learn English from Miss Gao．
I lent him a book yesterday．→He borrowed a book from me yes- terday．
2）将两个句子或并列句改为简单句。
①用both．．．and，either．．．or，neither．．．nor，not only．．．but also，not．．．but并列连词或词组改写。
Lucy hasn't finished the work．Lily hasn't finished it，either．→Neither Lucy nor Lily has finished the book．
Jim went to the park last Sunday．Tom went to the park，too．→Both Jim and Tom went to the park．
You can finish these exercises in class，and you can finish them after class．→You can finish these exercises either in class or after class．
②用分词短语改写。
We lived in a small village．Its name is Gum Tree．→We lived in small village called ／named Gum Tree．
③用too．．．to，enough to等不定式结构改写。
The ice is very thin．We can't walk on it．→The ice is too thin for us to walk on．
The room is quite large．It can hold 100 people．→The room is large enough to hold 100 people．
3）将复合句改为简单句。
①用不定式改写。
We don't know where we shall meet．→We don't know where to meet．
He is so weak that he can't carry it．→He is too weak to carry it．
②用介词短语改写。
Bob began to go to school when he was six．→Bob began to go to school at the age of six．
It is five years since he became a teacher．→He has been a teacher for five years．
I saw it happen when I was going to school．→On my way to school， I saw it happen．
③用分词短语改写。
I want to be a soldier after I leave school．→I want to be a soldier after leaving school．
When she heard the news she began to cry．→Hearing the news she began to cry．
④用名词短语改写。
Could you tell me how I can get to the park？→Could you tell me the way to the park？
I take back what I said．→I take back my words．
⑤用最高级改写。
He is taller than any other boy in his class．→He is the tallest boy in his class．
She did worse than the other runners．→She did worst of all the runners．
