变应试教育为素质教育已经成为我国基础教育以全新的姿态迈向21实际的战略举措，而课堂教学又是实施素质教育的主渠道，因此，如何利用课堂教学这块阵地，对学生进行素质教育，培养学生的主体意识、参与意识、独立意识和创新意识是教学中 待解决的问题。下面我就根据自己十几年的英语实践，结合自己的教学，谈谈自己的想法和做法。  
一、改变教学理念，对传统的教学方式进行改革  
（一）就获取知识的能力而言，在教学方式上要把重点教给学生一定知识转变为重点激发学生学习兴趣和培养学生学习能力-这是两种截然不同的教学方式，前者主要是在教师的作用下，学生消极被动地进行学习，学生一般没有自己选择的余地，常常地依赖老师从事学习活动。既
