2003年全国中学生英语能力竞赛(NEPCS)高一组决赛试题由两大部分组成,即听力部分和笔试部分。答题时间为120分钟,试卷总分值为150分。
听力部分
听力测试时需要注意的一些方面在本学期第27期中的“2003年全国中学生英语能力竞赛高一组初赛试题解析①”中已有很详细的讲解。在此不再赘述。
第一节:听辨单词
先读一遍每组中的单词,再仔细听句子,句中有很多信息帮助确定答案。
如第1小题:句中的won, silver, swimming championship等都可帮助确定所听到的词应是medal。再如第2小题中的She didn’t understand what he meant与several times可帮助确定答案为A。

第二节:句子理解
例如第6小题:A、C、D都说去过the Philippines,可见B项应排除;D项与常识不符,也应排除。这时听力的焦点集中在是否有time欣赏the beautiful scenery。在句中可听到but there was no time for that,可知C项正确。
再如第7小题:根据对英美文化背景的常识可知A、D不符合实际。B项实际上也不合理。所以答案可能是C。在录音中听到but you cannot buy spirits from a shop until you are eighteen,答案果然是C。
