通过阅读本题的各个题目,把主干部分连在一起:the newcomers have come to London->do something on Friday morning->take part in the games->start a trip to the historical city of Bath。

Now it is time to welcome all the newcomers to International English School. You are all here to improve your business English skills,可知正确选项是B。
So,starting with Friday,in the morning we thought you’d want to visit this city...a few museums...,so we’ve organized a visit to one...
第23小题:在关于games的一句话中,可听到that’ll help you get to know your fellow newcomers,可推断出此题的答案应是A。
文中提到film时说which is free only to all International English School members,而提到Sunday时说we’ve left it entirely up to you how you spend the day, both in the morning and the afternoon,所以正确选项是C。
(B)

D.How to write stories.
A与D相比较,A 更为合理。
Listen to the following two passages and choose the best answer to each question. Each passage will be read twice.
Passage A
Now it is time to welcome all the newcomers to International English School. You are all here to improve your business English skills. This weekend, which is your first in London,we’ll offer to help you get used to your new surroundings in an unusual and exciting way. So, starting with Friday,in the morning we thought you’d want to visit this city—we know that some of you have already visited a few museums in the neighbourhood,so we’ve organized a visit to one for those who are interested.
At 3 p.m. we’ve planned games that’ll help you get to know your fellow newcomers. You’ll all be rather tired after dinner so we thought you might like to see a film at 7 p.m.,which is free only to all International English School members.
On Saturday we have organized a day trip to visit the historical city of
Now on Sunday,we’ve left it entirely up to you how you spend the day, both in the morning and the afternoon. Most of you will want to prepare yourselves for the beginning of your classes on Monday. On Sunday evening, however,at about 6 p.m.,I’ll ask you to come to the main lecture hall to collect your study materials and meet your teachers.
OK, that’s all for now.Thank you.
Passage B
I’d like to give some advice to the young people who want to start writing stories, although it is difficult for me to do so.
Firstly, use simple language.I didn’t read a book until I was about eleven. It was then that I discovered the pleasure of reading.I’d read any stories I found.Sometimes there were so many long, difficult words I didn’t know.I had to spend much time looking them up.Too many difficult words will tire the readers out, which makes them lose interest in the story.New young writers should try to produce stories by using simple language.Don’t use lots of long words and complex sentences.
Secondly, keep a personal diary. To begin with,it is necessary to write down all the little things that happen to you day after day, keep a record of all this, because it will enrich your writing.Good stories are often made up of interesting details.
Lastly,do a lot of research. The important thing is that you should know exactly what you are going to write about.Make sure that the subject you’ve chosen is something you’re really familiar with. When I wrote my latest book, there was going to be an elephant in the story,so I read a lot about them and even visited the zoo to take a closer look at them.If you’ve done the hard work, then the writing itself is easy.
