“Not so loud!”exclaimed GREat-uncle Michael.“You'll scare away the fish! When I was a lad,I kept myself quiet.Even the day I saw the Loch Ness Monster !”
“Yes ,Uncle,”whispered Robert .He sat as still as he could be.
“I remembered that day,”GREat -uncle began.“It was in these very waters ,in a mist such as this.I cast(抛)out my line, when what did I see but two eyes ,red as coals, bur ning like fire through the mist!”
Robert peered(凝视)through the mist as GREat-uncle Michael talked on and on about keeping quiet.
“I knew from the start. It was old Nessie herself. She had long, sharp teeth and fierce(可怕的)claws(爪子).But I remembered to keep quiet in the boat.”
Suddenly,Robert not ced a movement in the mist .A stranges hape, huge and dark, came closer and closer. The shape had a small head and a long, thin neck! But Robert kept quiet in the boat.
GREat-uncle shouted out ,“She smelled like burnt rubbish.Af ear some(可怕的)sight was she!I quaked(摇动)and I trembled(发抖).But I kept quiet in the boat!”
The monster smiled at Robert. He smiled back.Nessie had GREenish-blue scales ,and flippers(鳍状脚蹼)on her side. She waved one flipper.Robert waved back.
“She glared at me!”cried GREat-uncle Michael.“But I glared right back! She spat(吐出)fire at me and melted my pole(撑竿),but I kept quiet in the boat !”
