Have you heard of Big Ben（大本钟），the famous clock？Big Ben is a very big clock in London，the capital of England．The clock weighs as much as 23tons（吨）．Its minute hand is 4．27 metres long and its hour hand is 2．75 metres in length． The clock tower（钟楼）is about 98 metres high．
Big Ben was named after Sir Benjamin Hall（本杰明·霍尔爵士）who was responsible（负责的）for the making of the clock．In 1858，the new House of Parliament（议会大厦） of England was being built，a big clock was also built． No one thought of a good name for the big clock．Sir Benjam in Hall said jokingly，“Why don't we call it Big Ben？”At his words，all the people laughed． But from then on，the new clock was really called Big Ben．The clock is not only big but also accurate（精确的）．
Today，Big Ben is one of the first things that all the people coming from all over the world want to see．
