2003年高考英语阅读理解试题设问方式很有特点,它们或以题干的迷惑性。或以题干的技巧性来充分考查考生的审题能力。
(一)以题干的迷惑性考查考生审题能力。
2003年高考英语阅读理解不少试题题干具有很强的迷惑性,审题能力不强的考生往往受骗上当,快速作出错误判断。如A篇57题和C篇63题。
57.Which of the following is most famous for moai？
A.Tristan da Cunha.
B.Pitcaim Island
C.Easter Island.
D.St. Helens.
【析】这个题干有很强的迷惑性,意为:下列哪个地方以moai著称？不少学生将其误解为:moai以什么著称？结果无论怎么认真阅读原文也找不到答案,最终只能乱选一气。其实,只要将题干理解正确,原文原句"...stone figures, called moai, for which the island is most famous"很清楚地说明了Easter Island以moai著称。
63.What is Animal Hospital？
A.A new story.
B.A popular book.
C.A research report.
D.A TV programme.
【析】不少学生选B。究其原因就是他们将Animal Hospital看成了Tales From Animal Hospital。可见该题干有很强的迷惑性。
(二)以题干的技巧性考查考生的审题能力。
2003年高考英语阅读理解有些试题题干具有较强的技巧性,如果识别不了其巧妙性就解不出或难以解答试题。如C篇66题。
66.Specialists use dogs to listen to children reading because they think __________ .
A.dogs are young children's best friends
B.children can play with dogs while reading
C.dogs can provide encouragement for shy children
D.children and dogs understand each other
【析】答案为B。原文原句"Through unbelievable determination Andrew Wiles finally worked out the problem in 1993."表明Andrew Wiles 解决了这个难题。而这个难题就是Fermats' Last Theorem。显然,解决这道难题就等于验证了Fermat's Last Theorem,但因题干有很强的技巧性,不少考生未能正确理解题意,最终只能乱选一气。
三、解题重实际应用

(一)以写作目的体现实用性
不少特定题材的阅读材料有特定的写作目的体现其实用性。请看C篇67题

【析】答案为D。阅读原文可知,这是一篇广告,其写作目的就是为了销售产品,这就是广告的实用性。
