It was the night before Christmas. Everyone was asleep in their beds-mom, dad, Billy and Timmy. But not Suzie.
"Tomorrow morning there will be gifts everywhere," she said, smiling. "What will Santa bring me? A new doll? A pet goldfish? A new dress? " As she tiptoed down the stairs, Suzie heard a noise.
"Could it be Santa already?" She thought happily. "He's early!" But it was not Santa. It was Billy and Timmy. They were waiting for Santa beside the Christmas three.
"Shhh," said Timmy. "I hear someone coming."
"Quick! Let's hide," cried Billy. "It could be Santa." The boy hid behind the sofa.
" You should be asleep," laughed Suzie. "It's past your bedtime."
"It's you," said the boys. "We can't sleep. We're much too excited."
Suzie joined her brothers beside the Christmas tree. And they waited. And waited. And waited some more. But nothing happened. All they could hear was the tick-tock of the grandfather clock.
The next morning Billy, Timmy and Suzie woke up. "oh, no," cried Billy. "Did we miss Christmas?"
"No, silly," said Suzie. "We only missed Santa. Maybe we'll catch him next year."
